About Me

Who The Heck Is This?

Hey everyone, my name is Greg. I'm a professional software engineer warning ignorer? for the last 15 or so years. I'm an avid trout fisherman and dedicated dog dad. I'm moving to medium from trying poorly to run my own blog as a github pages site. While using a static page builder like Hugo was fun it never enocuraged me to write.

What are you going to read here?

Well hopefully alot. I love fishing and being outdoors so I'll absolutely post some fun articles of the great outdoors. I really want to help others learn to code well. I've been at it for over a decade and still love it. So outside of the woods I'm hoping to contribute articles in my area of expertise. I'm a back end developer on paper so SQL, Python and various data storage solutions are my game. I've noticed that on Medium there's two types of technical articles. Very basic or very in depth. It seems to me that if you wanted to learn how to install and use a python package that you would find it here. Likewise if you were very experienced in machine learning you would find good news and discussion. If you were a student or new developer just like outside of medium you can feel stuck. So I hope to post articles on technical and career questions for the somewhat experienced developer.

Dogs?

Yeah absolutely this is molly my fishing buddy extroadinare.
